Thank you for your interest in enrolling your children at Kyoto International School.
In order for us to understand your children better, we ask for the following information shown below to be submitted through our online application form. Please note that you may save and return to this application form at any time before submitting it.
(Early Years 1 & 2)

Admissions Process for Early & Primary Years / Middle School / High School
Go to (https://kyoto.openapply.com) and make an account. From here you will be able to start the application process. The Admissions Office will contact the applicant when online application form, required documents and the application fee are received.

The decision about enrolment will be made by the Principal based on information gained from the application process, available space, and school policies.
Upon acceptance, an acceptance letter, documents outlining the school expectations and procedures, a parental agreement form, and a registration invoice are sent to the applicant.
When the Office of Admissions receives the parental agreement form and the registration fee, the application process is complete.
Points to Note
Admissions and class placement will be decided by available space, age (see placement chart), the balance of the grade level and academic needs. Students may be placed on a waiting list if no spaces are available.
Required documents to support the application process include:
- Scanned copy of passport, birth certificate or health insurance card (to certify date of birth)
- Health form completed by a physician PDF Download
- Health form completed by the child’s parent. (Completed in an online form or completed version of this PDF.)
As a part of Step 1, applications for Grade 1 and above are required to submit their most recent school report and the KIS confidential recommendation form. This online form is to be filled out by the child’s current or previous teacher.
Applications for Grade 1 and above are also required to submit their most current school report. Applications for Kindergarten (Early Years 3) may also need a school record or additional information from the student’s current school.
A non-refundable application fee of 31,500 yen (as of August 1st, 2021, one-time fee, non-refundable) is required for consideration of each application.
